Relocating?

Relocating can be one of the most stressful times in our lives.

As a military member, we recognize your relocations are more frequent. Whether you are moving by yourself or with a family, there are interesting challenges like leaving friends and family behind and reestablishing yourself in your new community.

Tips and tools to make your move easier:

1. Know what you are entitled to.

• Relocation policies differ by organization and it is important to know what benefits are available to you given your status (for example, married or single). It is your responsibility to understand a policy before you even begin to incur expenses.

2. Get organized.

• Organization is key to having a smooth relocation. Checklists are available all over the internet. Here are few to help you with the basics, moving, packing and even helping children cope with the move.

3. Before you move, talk to your banker.

• They will help you set up a relationship with a branch at your new location. They can also discuss Mortgage options and transfer your details to the new location. With BMO, you will have access to online banking and ATMs while travelling to your new location.

• Moving can be expensive. BMO offers a line of credit with preferred rates for Defence Community members that can be used to ease some of the pressure of the relocation expenses.
